Emma Watson supported the Free Palestine movement in a post on his personal social media. The post, first published in May by a pro-Palestinian group, featured a placard mention that, "Solidarity is a verb." In the background was a protest march with other slogans such as "Justice for Palestine."

In explaining the post, Watson quoted Sarah Ahmed, a researcher and social activist, as saying about solidarity: "Solidarity does not presuppose that our struggles are the same, or that our pain is the same, or that our hope for future is the same. "Solidarity does not assume that our struggles are the same struggles, or that our pain is the same pain, or that our hope is for the same future. Solidarity involves commitment and work, as well as the recognition that even if we do not have the same feelings, or the same lives, the same bodies, we do live in the earth."
