Fathi Nourin, the famous Algerian judoka, officially withdrew from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on July 22, 1400, after being scheduled to compete with Israel's representative, Tohar Butbul, in the draw for the second round of the judo competition.

Ammar bin Yakhlef, the coach of the Algerian national judo team, said that the team withdrew from the Olympic Games in order to express its opposition to the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime and to support the Palestinian issue.
In the draw of -73 kg at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Algerian judoka Fathi Nourin was grouped in the first round of his competition with Sudanese opponent Mohamed Abdel Rasoul, and if he won, he would have to compete with Israeli athlete in the second round of the competition.
This is not the first time that Fathi Nourin refuses to confront the Zionist opponent. He had previously canceled his judo competitions in the UAE in 2019 due to the presence of a representative of the Zionist regime.
